Featured Farmboy Artist • Sarah Marcotte-Boislard

October's featured artist Sarah Marcotte-Boiselard has work that stands out in our collection. Her images each have a narrative that is made more powerful when they are viewed together. Fitting well within our Techno Boudoir design trend, we see her images framed in gold in a long corridor, or printed on our backlit BADA BOX in a luxurious niteclub.

Sarah graduated in photography from the Cégep du Vieux-Montréal, and lives and works in Montreal. In 2010, she received the photography prize awarded by the 2010 FIMA. Furthermore, the Creative Source catalog No. 22 underlined the originality and the quality of her photos in the Emerging Talent section. Her work has been displayed in numerous individual and collective expositions in Montreal, including the FIMA, the Usine C, The Cinéma du Parc and the MultiArt Festival at Bain Mathieu.

In her work, Sarah plays with colors, textures, ambient lighting and atmospheres to suggest lightness and a fluidity that is unique to each photographed scene. She underlines a mutual influence between the character and the environment. Images thus created are filled with nostalgia and slowness in which the word "intimate" takes on its original meaning.

Sarah has been with FBFA since 2008 and was connected with them through the MX Galerie in Montreal.

Farmboy Staff Picks • Yas Yeganegi

We asked Farmhand Yas Yeganegi, one of our account managers here at Farmboy, to choose one of her favourite images from our Stockyard collection and tell us what she likes about it.

Who is the artist?
Arian C, AVC.000.00031

Why do you like it?
I love this image. It reminds me of a warm summer day where there
are no worries on your mind and you can just lay outside for hours relaxing.

Farmboy Podcast

This month's podcast comes from San Francisco-based Matt Haze of Slayers Club DJs and Daly City Records.

Matt has been kind enough to include a playlist for us this month (bonus!) and a sweet little write up that will transport you right into his studio with him:

"As I compiled the tracks for this mix, San Francisco summer pushed back against the face of fall, wrenching the last bit out of sweat from the city. Naturally, this made me frantic. I thought about where I would go to sweat and the impending decline of face time with the sun. At the same time, I found myself drawn to a particular, a transient fragment of sound awash in skittering drums and rubbery bass, pregnant with undiscovered and forgotten melodies. I've interlaced this progression of light and dark sounds to concurrently warm and chill you, to provoke sense memory and beg the question, "what next?""
